Cherokee Lanes · MyBowlingLife
Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 17, 2026
In Plain English
- We collect what's needed to run the league: your account info, bowler profiles, and scores.
- We never sell your information, and we don't run ads or tracking scripts.
- Junior bowlers' profiles are created and controlled by a parent or guardian's account, not by the child.
- Text message alerts are opt-in — you choose whether to receive them.
- You can ask an admin to correct or delete your information at any time.
This policy covers MyBowlingLife at mybowlinglife.com, including the Game Tracker feature, and explains what information we collect, why, and how it's handled.
Information We Collect
- Account info — name, username, password (stored securely, never in plain text), email address, and an optional phone number for text alerts.
- Bowler profile info — for yourself or a linked child: name, date of birth, gender, USBC number, and home bowling center. Date of birth is used only to group bowlers into the correct age division.
- League activity — game scores, averages, handicaps, team assignments, and matchup results.
- Uploaded scoresheets — if a photo or PDF of a paper scoresheet is uploaded, it's used to automatically read the scores off it and speed up entry.
- Standard technical logs — basic web server logs (like IP address and browser type) kept briefly for security and troubleshooting, the same as almost any website.
How We Use It
- Running league features — schedules, standings, rankings, and handicap calculations.
- Reviewing and approving new accounts and bowler-to-account links.
- Sending optional email or text notifications — score sheet approvals, league reminders, or an alert to admins when a new account signs up.
- Reading paper scoresheets automatically when one is uploaded, so scores don't have to be typed in twice.
Who We Share It With
We don't sell personal information, and we don't use advertising trackers or analytics services. A few outside services help run the site itself:
- Amazon Web Services — reads uploaded scoresheets (Textract) and sends opt-in text alerts (SNS). These are processing services, not data buyers.
- Google — delivers outgoing email (Gmail) and serves the site's fonts, which briefly exposes your IP address to Google the way loading any web font does.
Children's Privacy
Cherokee Lanes runs junior (youth) bowling leagues, so some bowler profiles belong to children. A child never creates their own login — a parent or guardian creates their own account first, then links it to their child's bowler profile. The parent/guardian controls that profile and can ask us to correct or remove it at any time.
Data Retention
Information is kept for as long as your account or league record stays active, so season history and standings stay accurate. You can request deletion of your account or a bowler record at any time — see Contact below.
Cookies & Sessions
We use a single functional cookie to keep you signed in between visits. There are no advertising cookies and no cross-site tracking.
Security
Passwords are stored using industry-standard hashing, never as plain text. The site is served entirely over HTTPS, and admin accounts require two-factor authentication.
Your Choices
- Text alerts are opt-in — turn them on or off any time from your account settings.
- Ask an admin to review, correct, or delete your information, or a linked bowler's information.
